TG-World Peg Solitaire

Peg Solitaire is a classic board game that has captivated minds literary for centuries. Its roots can be traced back to the late 17th century in France. Originally known as "Solitaire”, the game gained immense popularity in Europe, especially in France and England. The earliest known mention of Solitaire dates back to the court of Louis XIV, where it was a favourite pastime among the nobility.

Why peg solitaire?

tg-world joga peg solitaire or erakkopeli This is one of the games I have some personal connection. Besides the basic card games and Dominoes, peg solitaire might have been one of the very first games I've played. Or one of the first ones I remember. Image is the actual peg solitaire I played a lot as a kid when I was visiting my grand parents. That picture on the cover tho'... Dude has some heavy hangers. And Joga? I don't know. I think the game is from the 1970s and back then everyone had a hangover from the 1960s...

My game!

I'm sorry for everyone who played the first version of this game. It was not good. It was also one of the first games I've written in JavaScript. As with all projects, I initially thought just doing some simple graphics upgrade and fix few known bugs. It didn't turned out that way at all. Basically 80% of the game got rewritten in the process. Now the game has hopefully less bugs and more enjoyable user experience. This is in fact my first second “release” or version of any game or software project. And I still missed the chance of naming the game “pegging”. Maybe next time.

Most visible change besides new graphics is addition of several different board layouts, styles and different marbles (or pegs or balls). First game was written for fixed board layout (English style), but now I've included all five major styles: English, French, German, offset and diamond. Try to mix and match different board and marble colors to suit your eyes. And since I never liked the dark graphics of the original game, this is just the opposite. Bright and sunny. Big thanks goes again to opengameart.org and great artists who contribute to the community. Buttons are modified from screamingbrainstudios.com CC0 buttons and background is cut from cynthiayosha, and “marbles” are actually CC0 Christmas balls from a user wenrexa.

Anything else..? I don't remember. It was actually very fun rewrite, and game is now hundred times better.
